Check your email receipts before adding a record

An inbox can save typing, but a receipt is only a suggestion. A brief review keeps your household history trustworthy.

Connect only when it helps

Money Sweetie’s email review is optional. If you choose to connect Google, review the permissions on its authorization screen. You can disconnect later. The app uses relevant messages to propose records and allows you to inspect the original email.

Check five details

  1. Amount and currency: confirm the final charge, especially when a receipt shows subtotals or conversions.
  2. Date: a purchase date and a posting date may differ.
  3. Account and owner: select the payment method actually used.
  4. Category: make sure the purchase fits the household’s categories.
  5. People and split: decide whether the record is personal or shared.

Watch for duplicates

A merchant confirmation and a card notification may describe the same purchase. Compare amount, date and merchant before approving another entry. Refunds and cancellations also need a separate check.

Correct the suggestion, then approve

Edit any detail that is wrong and save only after it matches the event you want to record. AI-assisted extraction, when enabled, can misunderstand an image or email. The original source and your review remain the useful safeguards. If a message contains information you do not want in the app, skip it.

Keep household expectations clear

Tell members how shared records are reviewed and who can see them. A good process is easy to repeat: check, correct, approve, then review the household totals together.
